HeartBeat Rhythm: musical invocations

You will learn to keep a steady rhythm on a drum or a rattle, music and movement Invocations for the 4-Directions honoring the Earth, Air Fire and Water; and develop skills for connecting to Nature and Ancestors.
Orient to the 4-Directions on the earth plane within the cosmic realm.
Time Commitment: 1.5 hours per week for 5 weeks, plus homework and practice

Curriculum:
Week 1
Honor the South, the place of water and the emotions, trust and innocence and orient to the South. Focus on steady heartbeat with drums and musical notation of whole and half notes. Learn vocal and movement Invocation for the South.
Week 2
Honor the West, the place of the earth, intuition and introspection, birth, death, rebirth and orient to the West. Focus on steady heartbeat with drum or rattle and musical notation of eighth and sixteenth notes. Learn vocal and movement Invocation for the West.
Week 3
Honor the North, the place of the air, intellect, clear mind and knowledge and orient to the North. Focus on steady heartbeat with drum or rattle and musical notation of triplets. Learn vocal and movement Invocation for the North.
Honor the East, the place of the fire, enlightenment and illumination and orient to the East. Learn vocal and movement Invocation for the East. Review all rhythms and directions with drum or rattle and review all rhythms while orienting to the 4-Directions on the earth plane within the cosmic realm.
