Songs from the Mara by Lis Addison
Songs from the Mara is a tribute to the magnificence of nature. Incorporating nature sounds I recorded while in Kenya, this album emulates the space, silence, pace and magic of a dwindling ecosystem. Love, loss and hope are written into the music: Love of nature, loss of habitat, hope for a sustainable way forward that honors all the creatures of earth, large and small, four legged, two legged, winged ones, swimmers and those rooted in the ground.
Songs from the Mara is a neo-classical album with electronics and ambient vocals. The instruments, electronics, voices and nature sounds on the album are intended to blend equally into the music the way all beings work harmoniously in an ecosystem for its health and benefit. In 2022 on the way to Kitui to plant trees with my tree planting non-profit the Singing Tree Institute I stopped on the Maasai Maria. In both places, I recorded the sounds of frogs, birds, water and lions that serenaded me. When I got home I wanted to compose a symphony for them. So I did!

About the Artist: Lis Addison is a Composer, Vocalist, Keyboardist and Producer. She writes in the Ambient, Classical Crossover, World, New Age and Electronic Music genres. She has composed and produced sixteen solo albums, soundtracks for film and dance and has over 10 Million streams on Spotify, Apple and Pandora. Lis has toured to eleven countries and across the US sharing her music, dance and message of conservation. She has planted 7,000 trees in Kamba Land, Kenya with her Singing Tree Institute non-profit.
